sunlight
sneaks in through
the window
to get out
of the cold
and sits on
my bed
shivering
i pull
the covers
over it

lately
if spring should appear
may is merely
minutes away
with a few cherry blossoms
pink and white
frosted over
many green buds
stillborn
and rain showers
cold
gray
not like the aprils
when i was young
or was that a dream
this is why we aspire to ascend
to leave the dirt and dust behind

this is me doing it wrong
this is me running
this is me on the ground
this is me crying
this is me afraid
this is me in the headlights
this is me holding on
this is me unsure
this is me struggling
this is me letting go
this is me in the mirror
this is me naked
this is me hoping
this is me a goddess
this is me doing it right
this is me
learning

all those petty crimes committed
without thought of why
or what we wanted
kleptomaniacs
taking out of habit
yet wondering why
our bags were never full
now i know
there were holes
everywhere
and the meaning of it all
had fallen to the ground
finally
there is no blood
the wounds run clear water
soon
there will be only light
i will be the sky
full of stars
countless stars
and the two of us
we are even

detach from your own criticism
unplug from the criticism of others
make mistakes
don’t be ashamed of your mistakes
redefine your idea of perfection
see yourself as perfect
own your anger
love your anger as you love your love
love your love
love your love

we peel away the layers
getting more specific
as we strip to the core
just past halfway
we find there is little
to separate us
from each other
we have similar specifics
at the end
where there is nothing left
we find we are
the same

white hair and
life is not nearly
over yet
flying in the breeze
on my way
to plant my seed
they said i was
a weed but i
was never that

way below the ocean’s depth
under the seabed
thrives a parallel universe
where all is shadow
where the purpose of love
is to satisfy need
where there is no rate of exchange
because we simply take
where jungle
and forest
and wilderness
are pristine
and undisturbed
where we are untamed
undomesticated
where our only shelter
is a merciless sky

the longer the day
the longer the shadows
makes up for the shorter nights
the shorter the nights
the same amount of darkness
