as i walk to the car
i thank the universe
for the healing drops of rain on my face
and thank my lucky stars that the rain stops
once i drive to my destination
high winds animate the stagnant air
the sun smiles brightly

joy in my heart
these small events
which don’t mean anything
mean everything to me

that is
if you want to live
but on mars
breathing is not as popular
at least not with oxygen

while you’re here on earth though

breathe the ever loving air
